Injection Moulding

Injection moulding is the backbone of the industrial design industry. In this process molten plastic is injected at high pressure into a mould, which is the inverse of the product's shape.
When designing for mass manufacture, injection moulding is usually the most cost effective process for producing large quantities of identical plastic parts.
There are many design limitations and rules, but the process offers designers almost limitless opportunity for form and mechanical innovation. Tooling prices vary depending on quality, longevity, size and country of origin, and economic volumes are anything from 500+ units. Part prices can also vary depending on the type of plastic or composite materials used.
